Yaksha
Term often used in a sense of demon, spirit, fairy, or guardian angel.
However, the Yakshis are originally pre-vedic deities connected with fertility, and also
village-guardians.
Yakshi(ni)
The female equivalent to the Yaksha and similar to paradise-related goddesses such as the
apsaras.
Many of the female figurines known from Indian erotic temple-art are thought of as Yakshinis.
