Although the term gri makes this weapon sound like a form of sword, the spu-gri carried by some Dharmapala and other protective, fierce deities is unanimously translated as razor. It is not only meant as a symbolic weapon against enemies of the religion, but is also used to punish monks who have broken their vows.
