Colors and Directions: The Tibetan System of Eight

In Tibetan thangkas, mandalas, visualizations, or sets of associations based on the number 8, the colors and directions are applied as shown here. Each of the cardinal directions is represented by a pure color, each of the intermediate directions by a mixed color.
The colors used here are slightly different from the scheme based on nine directions; where East is blue.
The scheme at left fits the associations of the Eight Kerima Dakinis.
